La Jolla Village Montessori School

Here at La Jolla Village Montessori we pride ourselves on providing our students an unmatched experience.

We do this with a detailed and planned approach, individualized for every child. Children are guided with specific sequential lessons that instill confidence with a "help me help myself" mindset.

Unlike traditional schools Montessori is designed for teachers to produce individual lessons as students develop.

Perhaps a little more time is helpful in one area? No problem.

Maybe the child has a great grasp of a concept and is ready to jump five steps to the next stage of their learning? Perfect.

Addressing these unique, individual details is what the Montessori method is designed to provide.

We also take great pride in the calm, cozy feel of our school (even more than other Montessori options!) as well as the greater connection and community parents and children find here.

Our Classrooms

Each classroom is fully equipped with Montessori specific materials. We utilize Montessori designed activities to foster an interest in art, music, and movement.

The Sunflower classroom is used for children aged 2 1/2 to 4 years old.

This classroom has a familiar, "homey" feel which young children find comforting.

Children 3 1/2 to 6 work in the Monarch classroom.

The Monarch classroom's layout develops towards what parents often recall as a traditional school setting.

All children have access to our unique outside area with its grassy area and shade from our trees.

Our Curriculum

Montessori Curriculum provides hands learning in Math, Language, Science, Geography, Practical Life, Sensorial, Music, Cooking, Spanish and more.

Best of all for your child, daily lessons are individually tailored to each student.

Our Community

Owned and Operated by Joanne O'Neil for over 32 years (who, in fact, had worked for the school for 6 years prior to purchasing it) La Jolla Village Montessori School is a staple in La Jolla community.

As mentioned above, we take great pride in providing a close-knit community encouraging children and parents interaction through a variety of special extras. Favorites include the horse drawn carriages in the La Jolla Holiday Parade, Fair / Petting Zoo Events as well as other gatherings during the school year.

We often find our best advertising is word of mouth from current and past parents and always appreciate the trust this shows in our mission.

If you're looking for a Montessori school in La Jolla or a La Jolla Preschool or early childhood education center we invite you to contact us to schedule an in-person tour with our team. We know you'll find our calm, smaller and cozy feel a comfortable fit for to begin your little one's educational journey.
